About the Owner
Kwaeisi Golliday, is a 25 year old Arkansas native. Born in Blytheville, Arkansas in 1994, she was raised in a family that supported its community and helped it thrive by caring for the people in it. Her grandmother, Alisa Allen, ran her own daycare as well as worked with youth with disabilities. The ability to care for others is ingrained in the family, and Kwaeisi is following in the footsteps of many others in her family before her.
After graduating a semester early from Nettleton High School in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Kwaeisi went on to live in Columbia, Missouri and complete her undergrad degree. While living there she worked with children via Care.com, Adventure Club, Tiger Cubs, as well as with the organizations she was a member of, such as the NAACP. Kwaeisi graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in May 2016 with a BA in Anthropology and a BA in Psychology. Soon after graduating she relocated to Pine Bluff, Arkansas to teach at Southwood Elementary School as a Teach For America Corps Member, Working with the youth in the Pine Bluff School District propelled her into jumping head first in community organization. In 2017, she began pursuing her Master's degree in Addiction Studies at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) and established Power to the People, Inc., a substance use/abuse prevention community organization. Since then, Power to the People, Inc. has implemented several programs targeting the youth of Jefferson County and continues to expand each year. It is her belief that the children are our future and that it is our job to pour into them while we can and that working together with those in close proximity is the best way to get the desired results. |
